CHRONARIUM: Scent of Time & Primordial Pulse
Scent of Time og Primordial Pulse are the first installations in WUNDERLAND CHRONARIUM, a series of five works developed over several years. The installations explore the theme of ‘Deep Time’, inspired by primordial organisms, the earliest development and bogs as archives of biological and geological history. Guided by performers and by interactive elements of scent, light, and sound, you will be invited to travel through layers of time.
I Scent of Time, you and two other visitors enter an organic, sculptural space that envelops you like a futuristic vessel or primeval cave. A performer guides you through a ritualized scent journey, where past and future seem to dissolve. Integrated sound elements respond to touch, and subtle lighting enhances the sensation of being suspended in a temporal limbo.
Primordial Pulse reflects the monumental, megalith-like plants of the late Silurian to early Devonian, known as ‘Prototaxites’. Towering sculptural columns rise through mist, breathing through small openings that release scents and reveal hidden inner landscapes. Through interactive audio and performers, you are invited to explore, rest, inhale, touch, and listen. One sculpture, inspired by hot springs, allows you to lie close to mosses, feel the misted moisture, and sense a primordial landscape through gentle sounds and shifting light.
The installations can be experienced as part of a complete dramaturgy or as standalone works, and may be presented again and again in different locations over time.
From 14 March to 19 April 2026, CHRONARIUM: Scent of Time and Primordial Pulse will be presented together as a single immersive performance installation at our venue in KunsthusTESE.
